Job Introduction

Hours: We have the following contracts available:

36 hours per week consisting of 3 x 12 hour shift running from 20:00-08:00

Main Responsibility

We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, meds etc.) followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a support worker who are commutable distance to Shrewsbury, essentially an individual who is calm, patient, and skilled in non-verbal communication. It would be beneficial if you have experience of providing support with therapeutic, communicating using Makaton and sensory activities. 

  • We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with autism experience.
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have 6 Months Experience working in the Health Sector in the UK.

Package Description

We are looking for a waking night Support Worker from Telford and the surrounding areas to support a young gentleman who has a mild learning disability and autism in a person-centred approach.

It is important to provide inclusion when supporting this individual, to ensure they are included in activities and decisions. Therefore, having a Support Workers who have a focus mindset, and a good understanding in their sensory need’s will be beneficial as it will allow development in gaining more independences.

As waking night staff, you will be expected to monitor their Safety and Welfare, quite often the person you will be supporting in bed already but of course each day is different. If they are not, we are to support them with Supper, along ensuring all that infection control policies and procedures are followed by maintaining cleaning duties.

You must have experience of providing support to a person with learning disabilities or autism and behaviours that may be perceived as challenging within the UK as well as experience of understanding and implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
