Support Worker

Job Introduction

I am a young man in my 20’s, living in my own home in Crewe, Cheshire.  I have a diagnosis of a Learning Disability, Autism and Epilepsy, as a result, I presents with a range of behaviours typical of those with sensory integration issues and autism. I’m looking for support workers to help me stay safe in my own home, I am supported by 3 staff during the day and 2 staff overnight.

My predominant form of communication is non-verbal. Staff will need to be trained in using PECs to support me to make choices and to support me with my daily routine.

I prefer a quieter and calm environments.

At times I can present with behaviours perceived as challenging, I have developed these over time, as a way of communicating my needs.

I struggle to understand time, or how long an activity lasts. Staff support my with the use of sand timers to help me understand how long I should participate in a given activity.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who share our values, understand the importance of a consistent and empathetic approach, whilst staying calm and professional when presented with a pressurised situation. You need to be a team player with effective communication skills, be experienced in using digital records and care plans, and electronic rostering systems.

You will need to possess an NVQ/QCF Level 3 or equivalent or be willing to work towards. You will be motivated and have a can-do attitude, and work within a Positive Behaviour Support Framework.

Must be willing to be part of a backup rota.
