Male Support Worker

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a support worker who is calm, patient, and skilled in non-verbal communication. It would be beneficial if you have experience of providing support with therapeutic and sensory activities, in addition to this the individual we support appears to be responding well to Makaton.

  • We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with autism experience.
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have 6 Months Experience working in the Health Sector in the UK. 

Package Description

Gray Healthcare are looking for an Experienced Male Support Worker to support a gentleman on a 2:1 basis. He has a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disabilities and Epilepsy. The person supported enjoys listening to music, watching YouTube Videos, watching DVDs and visits with his family who are very important to him and visit often.

The person that we support requires consistency and structure around his routine, he enjoys playing tactile games with his support workers but sometimes likes the environment to be of a quiet nature.

The vacancy is 36 hours - 3 x 12-hour 8am - 8pm and 1x 12 hour Sleep in and be on a backup rota.

Training

We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, meds etc.) followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.
