Male Support Worker (Driver)

Job Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Male Support Work within the Burton on Trent area to support a gentleman on a 2:1 basis. This gentleman has a manageable Mental Health diagnosis, along with an Asperger's Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Therefore, having experience supporting individuals with theses’ condition would beneficial when it comes to the Support that's being received.

This gentleman is fully able to communicate his needs and has full capacity. He has an interest in Geography with visiting new towns and cities, there is a car to take him out in, and in addition enjoys listening to music and spending time with family.

You must have experience of providing support to a person with complex needs and behaviours that may be perceived as challenging within the UK and have experience of understanding and implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically led. That means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support. This provides more direction to the Support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support.

Hours:

Contract 24 Hours: 2 x 12 Hour Day Shifts

Shift times: 08:00am-20:00pm and 20:00-08:00

It is essential that we work as part of a team and be willing to help covering sickness or annual leave as and when required.

Training

We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, medication.)

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.

About you

Ideally, we are looking for someone who is living a commutable distance to the service in Burton on Trent, it essential that you are Pro Active, outgoing, and patient, someone who can encourage daily. It would be beneficial if you were a driver and were able to drive an automatic car. 

We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with autism experience.

You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have 6 month's healthcare experience within in the United Kingdom.

  • Assessment Day with key team members including clinical and current support staff. This is a valuable opportunity to really find out more about the role and Gray Healthcare.
  • Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
  • An enhanced DBS is required. If you are not on the Update Service, we will reimburse the cost of a new DBS after 1 month probation review.
