Male Support Worker Days or Waking Nights (Driver)

Job Introduction

We are looking for Male Support Workers in Salford, Manchester with a full UK MANUAL driving licence to support a gentleman in his own property and drive his mobility vehicle. The person we support has an acquired brain injury and is independent. We provide 24-hour support for the gentleman working on a 2-2-1 basis – day shifts, waking nights and sleeps.

You must have experience of providing support to a person with complex needs and behaviours that may be perceived as challenging within the UK and have experience of understanding and implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically informed. That means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support. This provides more direction to the Support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support.

Training

We do not expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare!

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training this includes (company induction, systems, and medication)

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you will complete shadow shifts.

Hours

Contracts Available

36 Hours: 3 x 12 Hours Shifts 08:00-20:00

32 Hours: 3 x 12 hour Shifts 20:00 - 08:00 week 1, 4 x 12 hour Shifts week 2 - rolling rota

About you

We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with Acquired Brain Injury experience and wo are able to be adaptable. You must hold a UK MANUAL DRIVING LICENCE and live a commutable distance to Salford.

The person we support is a massive football fan and a keen music fan of ninety’s Manchester music scene so having an interest in either would be preferable.

You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months.

Recruitment Process

  • Teams Interview with a specialist Recruiter:
  • This is to go through the position in more detail and to find out more about you and your experience. 
  • Assessment Day with key team members including clinical and current support staff. This is a valuable opportunity to really find out more about the role and Gray Healthcare.
  • Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
  • An enhanced DBS is required. If you are not on the Update Service, we will reimburse the cost of a new DBS after 1 month probation review.
