Male Support Worker (Driver)

Job Introduction

We are looking for experienced support workers who is patient, as well as excellent communication.

You need to be adaptable to the changing needs and preferences of the PWS, as well as the ability to work effectively on a on a 3:1 basis.

As a person they value their independence, so respecting this and encourage them to make their own decisions is critical. You must also be able to provide emotional support and assistance with managing their mental health conditions. You must be able to calmly oversee behaviours that may appear as a concern.

You will be making a significant impact on their life, helping them to achieve their goals and live a fulfilling life.

You must have experience of:

  • Providing encouragement to a person with complex mental health needs and Learning Disabilities. 
  • Behaviours that may be perceived as concerning within the UK
  • As well as experience in implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that we are clinically informed, this means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists and positive behaviour support specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support. 

This provides more a direction to the support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcome of the people that we support. 

Hours:

Contract: 36 Hours a week 3x 12 Day shifts ( 4 Support Workers Required) 

Days 08.00am till 20.00pm
    
Training:

We do not expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare!

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, and meds

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominant approaches.

You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you will complete shadow shifts.

About You: 

You must hold a UK MANUAL DRIVING LICENCE

Ideally you will be a resolute and wilful person, with a desire to empower and support individuals with disabilities. Experience with Schizo affective disorders and other Mental Health Conditions is desirable

In addition to this you must live a commutable distance to the service in Telford. 

We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously. 

You must have a current Right to Work for the UK and have 6 months relevant Health Care experience within the UK.

Recruitment Process

  • Teams Interview with a specialist Recruiter:

  • Assessment Day with key team members including clinical and current support staff. This is a valuable opportunity to really find out more about the role and Gray Healthcare.
  • Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
  • An enhanced DBS is required. If you are not on the Update Service, we will reimburse the cost of a new DBS after 1 month probation review.
