Main Responsibility
Training
We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, meds etc.) followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.
Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.
Recruitment Process

Hours:
We typically have 12-hour shifts but there is some flexibility around this. We have the following contracts available:

The Ideal Candidate
About You
Ideally, we are looking for an aspiring support worker who has experience in supporting individuals who are nonverbal and are on the Autism Spectrum. Ideally, you will be confident in your position and have a positive outlook along a good sense humour and being a good communicator which will beneficial when encouraging independences. It essential that you are a skilled communicator who can interpret this gentleman’s nonverbal communication.
- We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with autism experience.
- You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have 6 month's Healthcare Experience within in the United Kingdom.

Package Description
We are looking for an aspiring Support Work within the Redditch and Bromsgrove Area to positively support and pro- actively engage with a young man on a 2:1 basis. He has a diagnosis of Autism and Epilepsy.
The individual we support lives in his own home and is slowly improving his ability to gain independence by going for walks and spending time out in the car and spending time with his family who are particularly important to him. This gentleman is also nonverbal, therefore being adaptable to eliminate the communication barrier will be essential in the support being provided.
You must have experience of providing support to a person with complex needs and behaviours that may appear as challenging within the UK and have experience of understanding and implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically informed. That means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support. This provides more direction to the Support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support.
