Main purpose of role:
- Responsible for supporting the Finance Team in the efficient operation of the finance function, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with organisational policies and accounting standards.
- Responsible for accounts payable, reconciliations, transactional finance processing, and supporting month end financial activities.
- Deals with confidential financial and employee information daily.
- Suitable for candidates holding AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and maintain accounts payable transactions, ensuring invoices are raised accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Monitor aged debtors and support credit control activities, ensuring overdue balances are proactively followed up and escalated where appropriate.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies, ensuring outstanding issues are resolved promptly.
- Support month end and year end finance processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded within the accounting system.
- Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and ad-hoc payment requests in accordance with organisational procedures and approval controls.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management information, reporting schedules, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Support cash flow monitoring activities, including weekly cash reconciliations and prepaid card reconciliations where applicable.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the wider Finance Team as required to meet business priorities and deadlines.
- Weekly cash top ups to the package prepaid debit cards and weekly reconciliation
Essential Skills & Experience:
- AAT Level 3 qualified or currently studying towards AAT Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience within a finance or accounts assistant role.
- Good understanding of accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and transactional finance processes.
- Experience of working with finance systems such as NetSuite or similar ERP/accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism.
- Competent Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a finance team environment.
