Female Support Worker

Job Introduction

Gray Healthcare are looking for a Female Support Worker to support a lady in her 60s, living in her own home in Barrow in Furness in Cumbria.

The person supported acquired a brain injury many years ago and this has left her with cognitive impairment that impacts her on all areas of her life. She also has a diagnosis of Kluver Bucy Syndrome.

Her support team work on 2-to-1 basis to help her remain living independently within her own home and to enjoy life to the full.

The person supported enjoys completing jigsaws, chatting to staff, going on walks and reading books. So, the staff who work with this lady would benefit from having similiar interests in these areas as it will help her get to know you.

Family means everything to the person we support, so it is essential that visits are booked in and the lady we support keeps in regular contact with family members.


Training

We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, meds etc.) followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.

Hours

We are looking for people to work the following shift patterns with flexibility

  • 36 hours per week,  3 x 12 hour shifts

About you

  • We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally mental health diagnosis and self-harming behaviours.
  • You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have been employed in the UK for at least 6 months.

 

Recruitment Process
