Female Support Worker (Days)

Job Introduction

We are seeking patient and experienced Support Worker within the Widnes area with a Mental Health background. This is to support a lady who is enthusiastic about the Arts, they love the theatre (Musicals) and movies.  

They would like support to build community links and social connections whilst settling into their new home, at times they can find motivation difficult. They do require prompting with managing their home, encouragement with cooking, prompts to change clothes, budgeting, and noticing changes in their Mental Health. 

They have diagnosis of Complex Mental Health needs involving schizoaffective disorder and Autism. 

You must have experience of:

  • Providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities. 
  • Behaviours that may be perceived as concerning within the UK
  • Implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically informed. This means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support.

This provides more direction to the support team, it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support

Hours

We have the following contracts available (Must be available to work the full 12 hours)

x3 36 Hour Contract Days - (8am - 8pm) 

Training

We do not expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! 

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems and meds) 

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominate approaches

You will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting. This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you will complete shadow shifts.

Training continues throughout your time with Gray Healthcare, and we encourage you to develop and grow your career with us.

 About You:

Ideally you will be committed with a strong background of Mental Health and experience in managing unsettled Mental Health relapses, as well as being an accessible distance to Widnes either by public transport or driving. 

 Preferably you will be positive, demonstrate empathetic calming qualities and have a good sense of humour. It would be beneficial to have experience supporting individuals who also have a diagnosis schizoaffective disorder with a history of self-harming.

Recruitment Process

  1. Telephone interview with a specialist recruiter to go through the role in more detail. As well as find out more about you and why you have applied.
  2. TEAMS interview or Face to Face interview with the Community Support Manager
  3. Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
