Female Mental Health Support Worker

Job Introduction

We are seeking an patient and experienced support worker within the Lichfield area with a Mental Health background. This is to support a lady who is slowly gaining her independence and lives in in her own home on a 2:1 basis. They have a mixed team on both days and night. 

They have diagnosis of Complex Mental Health needs involving complex emotional needs and personality difficulties, Autism and Learning Disabilities

They have a fantastic sense of humour and enjoys going out in the local community where they are well known. Also, they have an interest in boxing, and cooking healthy food, they do require prompting and encouraging when it comes to doing activities.

You must have experience of :

  • Providing encouragement to a person with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities. 
  • Behaviours that may be perceived as concerning within the UK
  •  As well as experience in implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically informed this means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support.

This provides more direction to the support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support. 

Hours

We have the following contracts available (Must be available to work the full 12 hours) 

24 Hours 2 x12 hours 10am - 10pm ( Days only) 

One week 2 days during the week, and alternative weekends.

(There are no sleeps available)

Training

We don’t expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare!

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (Company induction, systems and Medication) 

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, this is a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint dominat approachesYou will then complete the person-centred training, specific to the person that you are supporting . This could be PBS, epilepsy, ligature etc. and finally, you’ll complete shadow shifts.

About You:

Ideally you will be committed with a strong background of Mental Health, as well as being an accessible distance to Lichfield either by public transport or drivingPreferably you will be positive, demonstrate empathetic qualities and have a good sense of humour. It would be beneficial if to have experience supporting others who also have a diagnosis of complex emotional needs and personality difficulties and self-harming. 

We are looking for people who have worked in social care previously, ideally with autism experience.

Recruitment Process

  2. Teams interview with Community Support Manager
  3. Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
