Female Mental Health Support Worker

Job Introduction

We are looking for an experienced female support worker that lives close to the Solihull area to support a young lady that is a keen gym goer and very independent. They have an all-female team for 2:1 support, 24 hours a day, they thrive by having the right type of individuals supporting them in a person-centred approach.

You will need to have specific experience of supporting someone with complex mental health needs and be understanding about behavioural responses.

It is important to provide inclusion when supporting this individual, to ensure they are included in activities and decisions. Therefore, having a Support Worker who have a focus mindset, is motivated, and has good understanding about sensory needs would be beneficial.

Gray Healthcare are different to most care providers in that that we are clinically informed. That means that there is a team of clinicians including nurses, occupational therapists, and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) specialists involved in developing the care and approach for each person that we support. This provides more direction to the Support teams; it is an inclusive approach that is proven to work to improve the lives and outcomes of the people that we support.

Training:

We do not expect you to know everything when you join Gray Healthcare! 

We provide an initial week of training which is a combination of online training (company induction, systems, medication etc.) 

Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK which is a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, a therapeutic and proven alternative to restraint-dominant approaches. You will then complete the person-centred and epilepsy training specific to the person that you are supporting and then you will complete shadow shifts.

Hours:

We are currently offering a 24-hour contract, 2 x 12 hour shifts - 8am to 8pm with 1 Sleep per week.

or 36- hour contract, 3 x 12 hour shifts - 8am to 8pm with 1 sleep per week.

About You:

We are looking for a support worker who has an empathetic approach, whilst staying calm and professional when presented with a pressurised situation. This individual must have experience supporting vulnerable individuals with Mental Health needs. We are looking for a person that has positive outlook, who are outgoing and enjoy going out instead of being sitting indoors. It would be beneficial if to have some experience supporting others who also have a diagnosis of complex emotional needs and personality difficulties.

•You must have current Right to Work in the UK and have 6 Months Experience working in the Health Sector in the UK.

Recruitment Process

  • Teams Interview with a specialist Recruiter:
  • This is to go through the position in more detail and to find out more about you and your experience. 
  • Assessment Day with key team members including clinical and current support staff. This is a valuable opportunity to really find out more about the role and Gray Healthcare.
  • Compliance & Background checks including employment references, Right to Work checks and Enhanced DBS.
  • An enhanced DBS is required. If you are not on the Update Service, we will reimburse the cost of a new DBS after 1 month probation review.
